Platinum

Platinum jewellery is usually 90% pure and has a natural white lustre which helps reflect the true radiance of diamonds. It does not fade or tarnish but keeps its pure white colour for a lifetime. Platinum is thirty times rarer than gold and if all the platinum ever mined was poured into a Olympic swimming pool, it would be scarcely deep enough to cover your ankles!
Its density makes it more durable than other jewellery metals, it does not change shape or wear away so pressure stones are held firmly and securely.
There are a variety of platinum finishes, the most common being, Polished, Matte and Satin. Platinum hallmarks show its purity i.e. 900 = 90% pure platinum; 950 = 95% pure platinum or 999 = 99.9% pure platinum. Because of its purity platinum jewellery is hypoallergenic, therefore, ideal for sensitive skin.
