Has anyone seen Kaspar Hauser?! Went missing in Nuremberg in 1828 and authorities have been searching for him ever since. Please help us to find this treasured individual.

3BUGS presents an adaptation of Peter Handke’s definitive text: Kaspar. Kaspar is a human being who has not yet been indoctrinated into the society that we all know and dwell within. Through the means of ‘speech torture’, Kaspar is eventually molded into the perfect civilian. Yet, what effects will this have on this treasured individual?

“I have been sentenced to reality.”

This exciting contemporary piece of new theatre draws upon the playwright’s deviation away from conventional theatrical means whilst exploring current devises used for performance making. Kaspar’s first performances will take place in Birmingham before moving on up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer so catch it here while you can!

To be performed on the 15th and 16th March 2010, 7.30pm  at the A. E Harris Factory, Stan’s Cafe Warehouse, 110 Northwood Street, B3 1SZ, Birmingham.

Directed by Alicia Radage and Charly Walker

3BUGS Fringe Theatre is a society of the University of Birmingham Guild of Students which was founded in 2004 with the aim of championing experimental theatre at the University and taking shows annually to the Fringe. We are a Guild Award winning student group and stages up to 10 shows a year in Birmingham. Our Edinburgh shows of the last few years have been very successful.

Fringe History: In 2008, our production of Crave by Sarah Kane was very well attended and received 5* ThreeWeeks and 4* British Theatre Guide. 2009 was our highlight so far though with two shows for the first time in recent years, both experimental adaptations: Baba Yaga Bony Legs, a Russian folk tale told entirely in the dark and Ophelia (Drowning), performed in the swimming pool of the Apex Hotel. Ophelia received 5* ThreeWeeks and 4* Scotsman, Telegraph, British Theatre Guide, Fringe Review as well as press attention from other papers and the BBC online. Photographs were photo of the day in the Scotsman, many international websites thanks to Getty Images and on the first day of the festival, the Guardian Eyewitness photograph was of Ophelia from our show. We sold out after a few days and have the sell out logo for future publicity.
