A major study is underway to see what needs to be done to assist the Jewellery Industry in Birmingham and the West Midlands to remain both competitive and plan for the future, and all local businesses in the jewellery industry are invited to participate.

The study, which is being carried out by local consultants Private 2 Public (P2P), is funded by the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, Birmingham City Council and the British Jewellers Association. 

A local industry-led steering group has been established for the study which involves representatives from both large and small manufacturers, retailers and contemporary designer makers.

The findings will be used to develop a ‘Support Strategy and Action Plan’ which will be used to lobby for support and attract public and private sector investment in order to deliver it’s objectives.

The survey is open to all types and sizes of businesses that make up the Jewellery Industry in the West Midlands and will be available to complete online from Thursday 2nd April to Thursday 30th April.

A telephone campaign will be conducted amongst a random sample of businesses, and P2P would also like to interview a number of businesses in more depth. All survey participants can indicate their willingness to be interviewed and a representative sample will be chosen.
