Last chance to win a fantastic prize – Creating a Buzz in the Jewellery Quarter!

9th July, 2009 @ 10.55AM

In conjunction with the Britain in Bloom 2009 City Centre Floral Trail, Jewellery Quarter businesses Holiday Inn Express hotel and Vertu Bar are sponsoring a special Bee Hotel in St Paul’s Square.

As part of the initiative, we have carefully hidden ten bees around the Official Jewellery Quarter website and challenge you to find them!

The prize-winner will receive a free night at the Holiday Inn Express hotel in Lionel Street and a unique Sterling Silver Bee Brooch made by Crescent Silver in the Jewellery Quarter.  The winner will also be taken for a rare look behind the scenes to see how it’s made and then enjoy a lunchtime meal at Vertu tapas bar.

For an Entry Form and Terms & Conditions in PDF click here  (Please note that the bee image on the entry form does not count!).

There are more bee hotels all along the City Centre Floral Trail, and these have been installed by Birmingham City Centre Partnership with the generous support of the OPAL Project at the University of Birmingham.

The bee hotels are designed to attract the Red Mason bee, which is listed as rare in the UK Biodiversity Action Plans and English Nature’s Species Recovery Programme. The bees attracted to the hotels do not produce a painful sting and can be observed from as close as one metre away, and will help increase biodiversity in our city centre.

You will be able to see if the bees like their hotels for yourself by following the 2009 Floral Trail around the City Centre and the Jewellery Quarter.
