Birmingham City Centre Floral Trail Strikes Gold!

7th September, 2009 @ 11.54AM

Birmingham City Centre Floral Trail, which includes the Jewellery Quarter, has won a prestigious Gold Award in the Urban Community category at the Heart of England In Bloom Regional Awards Ceremony.

The theme was ‘Local Roots’ and Birmingham linked the Floral Trail with Matthew Boulton, one of Birmingham’s most famous and important historic figures as well as other icons, which have made Birmingham Famous today.

In addition to the floral hanging baskets and planters across the City, there are nineteen features along the Trail Route, including a planted Canal Boat (Brindleyplace), 50th Anniversary Mini car (Victoria Square) and a planted Silver Soup Tureen (St Paul’s Square).  For more information about the Floral Trail click here.

Following a Gold Award in the Urban Regeneration Category in 2008, the Floral Trail was also nominated as a Finalist in the National Britain In Bloom Competition.  The winners will be announced on 23rd September in Torquay.
