Marketing Agency raises money for The National Autistic Society

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Hanging up their account based marketing hats for a short period, marketing agency Catalyst, put on their aprons and baked all week-long in a bid to raise money during World Autism Awareness Week.

Channelling the Great British Bake Off and infusing it with a little Come Dine With Me, each member of the team baked for the week-long sale and were judged by fellow colleagues, along with neighbouring companies.

Catalyst’s Business Development Executive, Camilla, took home the votes with her Ginger Guinness cake slices, which was probably due to the bottle of Highgrove Ginger Liqueur she bought in which upped the ante significantly (you can never go wrong with free alcohol to sway votes!).

Everyone got into the spirit of giving, as cakes, brownies, flapjacks and cookies were sold in plenty to local businesses around the Jewellery Quarter. From Nutella brownies and Guinness cake to homemade Ferrero Rocher and chocolate Amaretto slices, it was a week of indulgence and discussion to increase understanding of the illness.

“The generosity of the local community was lovely to see and the change collected in a little Catalyst mug soon contributed to a £500 JustGiving target by the end of the week for The National Autistic Society”, says Sudhir Kumar, Client Services Director for Catalyst.

Around 700,00 people in the UK are on the autism spectrum, which means autism is a part of daily life for 2.8 million people. Increasing the understanding and education of autism is key to improving the lives of those affected and can be done through any means possible – baking, donating, collecting and walking.

To conclude a fulfilling week, on the weekend, one of Catalyst’s own embarked on the 9 Mile Llanberis Path trek of Mount Snowdon. With the sun shining, Client Services Director, Sudhir Kumar climbed Mt. Snowdon, backed with the support and charity of friends, family and the local community in a beautiful crescendo to the week.

Catalyst would like to thank all who were involved as well as external contributions outside of the bake sale in reaching their goal of £500.
