Birmingham Retail Crime Operation
Birmingham Retail Crime Operation is a not for profit company in partnership with City of Birmingham,
West Midlands Police whose aims include:
- to exclude persistent and prolific offenders from member’s premises;
- protect staff from violence, abuse, reduce crime & fear of crime;
- to encourage investment by creating a safer work place area, improve economic and general environment of the City leading to more employment and prosperity.
Being a member means –
1. Access to a state of the art crime busting radio communications system linking, businesses to each other, enabling a direct link to local police CCTV operator, patrolling officers.
2. Access to a Licensed Data Protection scheme enabling sharing of information for Crime Prevention & Detection Purposes.
3. Access to other information sharing through the Midlands Retail Crime Initiative and hence other partnerships throughout the UK and official information sharing protocols with local police.
4. Direct access to the only agency that represents businesses within the Birmingham Crime & Disorder Partnership.
Membership includes cover for third party indemnity insurance for purposes of the scheme.
Costs
The 2009 cost to each business –
- A one off initial £35 joining fee.
- Radio rental at £335 per year for small businesses (including membership and all wear & tear repairs).
- Radio Purchase – Radios can be purchased (prices subject to change) but require an airtime fee of
£130 per year.
Group requirements (multiple premises / radios) can be tailored / negotiated to suit.
2009 – 10% discount for Jewellery Quarter located businesses. (All prices + VAT).
